Ever since I was about 5 years old I have had a special place in my heart for boy bands. I have loved the Backstreet Boys, One Direction, Five Seconds of Summer, and especially New Kids on the Block! NKOTB announced a tour for summer of 2017 but I figured that no one would want to go to their concert with me and that the tickets would be too expensive so I pushed the concert to the back of my head. In early May, my dad and I were on a road trip and for some reason the New Kids concert came up and I decided that I was going to try my darnedest to get to their show!
I some how convinced my mom and my mom's best friend to go to the concert with me and I was ecstatic!I bought the tickets, got off work, got a new outfit, and pulled my Keds out of the closet. I was so excited and more than prepared for this once in a life time opportunity.
So on a Wednesday afternoon we packed up the car and drove to Tulsa for the best night of my life! We went to dinner, found a parking spot, talked to some of the other fans who were there (thousands of middle-aged women) and found our seats. Now, we did not get our tickets early nor did we spend a lot of money so we had nose bleed seats that were at a very steep angle. Some of us had a hard time with the height that we were at, but I was just taking everything in. I was so happy to be there and there was nothing that could damper my mood!
Boyz II Men and Paula Abdul opened for the New Kids so I "patiently" sat through those performances as I waited for my boys to get on the stage! Paula Abdul put on a complete show that was pretty entertaining to watch but really I just wanted NKOTB! Finally at about 9pm the lights went off and the screaming started! I screamed with everyone else and could not contain my excitement! For the first couple songs I stayed in my chair but soon enough I was on my feet with the other fans! I sang along, danced, and screamed and honestly just had the best time!
I LOVED the entire night but there were some highlights!
Highlight 1:
When I found NKOTB a couple years ago I also got my childhood best friend obsessed with them. Her favorite New Kids song is Summertime so when they sang that I yelled for the both of us!
Highlight #2:
I am a total Donnie Girl and my favorite song to watch live is Cover Girl! I absolutely died when Donnie yelled "Are there any cover girls in the house tonight?" I was yelling and dancing and just having the best time during that song!
Highlight #3:
Hearing Donnie yell "TULSA, OKLAHOMA!" was definitely a highlight of the night!
If you cannot tell, I had the most amazing night at the Total Package Tour and would absolutely do it all over again! I am so glad that I got to go with my mom and our really good friend! I have so many memories from that night and I still reminisce about that night all the time!
