Vitamin D

Hi friends! I have already spent a week in Maryland and it is going by so fast! My new friends are amazing and everyday I look forward to hanging out with them in the evenings. My research is coming along but it is taking time and I am trying my best to be positive about what the results might be. Campus is pretty and although I still get lost I like it a lot.
This Saturday we went canoeing in the morning, played basketball in the afternoon, and went for a run with some of my gal pals in the evening. I love spending time in the sun and enjoyed my Saturday so much! Canoeing was a little scary, but for my first time I think I did pretty good! My arms are extremely sore but it is a good sore. I am learning so much and loving every new experience! I have played pool, softball, and basketball which are all things that I do not do very often but have had a good time doing!
This Sunday I got to go to church in Salisbury. It was nice to do something that is so "normal" for my everyday life but it was the first activity that actually made me homesick. I miss all of the folks back at home and hope that as I continue this experience I will get more and more comfortable here in Maryland.
Tomorrow (Tuesday June 13) I will be going out on a boat and will hopefully catch some blue crabs. I will be out with a couple of the other guys from the internship and they are so worried that I will not enjoy being on the water so they have been prepping me all day. I think that I will have more than enough support/help on the boat and that everything will go well!
One of the funniest things that has happened is that everyone is so surprised by my personality. I think that they all thought I would be quiet and reserved but now that they have gotten to know me better they call me a "little firecracker" which I think is pretty accurate! ;)
Even though there are moments that are challenging, I am enjoying the Eastern Shore and can almost feel my time here slipping through my fingers. I try to soak everything and appreciate every moment!
