2017 in Review

2017 was a great year!! I grew and changed so much in this year and want to tell you about some of the highlights of my year!

 {I split 2017 in quarters, so there will be four sections of memories!}

1. Spring Semester!!
    My first spring semester of college seemed to be so long!! I had a month for winter break and during this time I had a pretty good schedule. Everyday I would get up and work on summer internship applications for a couple hours and then I would head to work for several hours. After work, I went home, helped with dinner and ended the night with a couple episodes of West Wing while continuing my application work. Filling out all 20+ internship applications was the first part of my year!! Once classes were back in session I was done with applications and was able to focus on school. I took 17 credit hours and was incredibly busy with my school work and my part time job at the daycare. As much as I enjoyed my job and my classes, this semester seemed to drag on and I was definitely excited when it was over! During the semester I got to go to Topeka, Kansas with the East Central University Mock Trial team and competed at our regional competition. For several weeks during the semester I got rejection letter after rejection letter from the different internships I applied for, but then in March I received my acceptance to the UMES internship!! I ended the semester with a 4.0 GPA and was so ready to get to Maryland!!

2. Summer!
My summer began with a month of preparation! I had just one month to prepare for my summer in Maryland. I worked full time at the daycare, went to a myriad of graduation events and got ready for my travels. In early June I left for Maryland, had some wonderful adventures, (read about those adventures in previous blog posts!), learned a lot and arrived back in Oklahoma at the beginning of August. Maryland was life changing. I think that I had the most growth on the East Coast!

3. Fall!
The beginning of my Sophomore year of college was so much more challenging than I expected it to be. I had an incredibly quick turn around once I got back to Oklahoma. I flew in on August 11, moved into the dorms on August 12, and started classes on August 14. I was overconfident in my abilities and quickly became overwhelmed and exhausted. I grew apart from my closest friends and hardly ever had a positive out look on life. Thankfully, I had friends and family who loved me through my low points and around October I got out of my little funk!

4. End of the Year!
The last couple months of 2017 were great! I was able to thoroughly enjoy my classes (except for chemistry two ;)) and finished my third semester on the President's Honor Roll! I was able to strengthen friendships and my testimony. I spent the holidays with loved ones and have enjoyed the first couple weeks of my winter break!

2017 was a year full of lessons. I learned some of these lessons the easy way and others I learned in a more difficult way due to my own stubbornness. I loved, cried, laughed , and learned this year! I am so grateful for everything I have lived through in 2017 and cannot wait to see what 2018 has in store for me!

I so hope that 2017 has been a magnificent year for all of you and that you enter 2018 happy, healthy, and rejuvenated!!

Vitamin D

     Hi friends! I have already spent a week in Maryland and it is going by so fast! My new friends are amazing and everyday I look forward to hanging out with them in the evenings. My research is coming along but it is taking time and I am trying my best to be positive about what the results might be. Campus is pretty and although I still get lost I like it a lot.      This Saturday we went canoeing in the morning, played basketball in the afternoon, and went for a run with some of my gal pals in the evening. I love spending time in the sun and enjoyed my Saturday so much! Canoeing was a little scary, but for my first time I think I did pretty good! My arms are extremely sore but it is a good sore. I am learning so much and loving every new experience! I have played pool, softball, and basketball which are all things that I do not do very often but have had a good time doing!     This Sunday I got to go to church in Salisbury. It was nice to d...
