Home Sweet Home!

Hi guys!

I am finally back in Oklahoma and it feels so good! The last week in Maryland was tough. There was a lot to get done in preparation for our symposium and our departure. On Thursday August 10, 2017 I was able to present my research on blue crab population ecology at the final symposium. I was able to go first and it went very smoothly. We also had a poster session where we all presented our posters. I was so glad to finish this project and have a completed product!
Presenting my research!
On Friday August 11, I flew out of Salisbury and flew into Charlotte. I stayed in Charlotte for four hours until I boarded my last plane that took me back to OKC. It was such a smoother travel day this go round. None of my planes were delayed and both my luggage and I successfully got back to Oklahoma. I flew into the most beautiful Oklahoma sunset and was so happy to be home!
The next morning, I moved into my dorm room! I was absolutely exhausted and ended up having to take a nap in the middle of the day but we got our room all set up and now we are just adding some decorations! On Sunday, I got to go back to my home church and enjoyed seeing everyone there, especially my primary kids! I then went to an Honors activity and the college's block party. It was a busy weekend to say the least and then I started classes on Monday!
Poster Session
This semester I am taking composition, speech, enduring questions through science (my Honors course), chemistry II, and microbiology! I have one online class (composition) but I have all my other classes on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and have both of my labs on Tuesday. I really enjoyed all of my lectures so far and absolutely loved being back in the lab!
To finish off my REU experience I am presenting a short PowerPoint about my summer at the Honors Convocation on Thursday. I am excited to present and hope it goes well!
I really enjoyed my summer and I am so grateful that I had this amazing opportunity. I learned a lot and met some amazing people. I am proud of the work I did and cannot wait to continue my science career!!

Vitamin D

Hi friends! I have already spent a week in Maryland and it is going by so fast! My new friends are amazing and everyday I look forward to hanging out with them in the evenings. My research is coming along but it is taking time and I am trying my best to be positive about what the results might be. Campus is pretty and although I still get lost I like it a lot.      This Saturday we went canoeing in the morning, played basketball in the afternoon, and went for a run with some of my gal pals in the evening. I love spending time in the sun and enjoyed my Saturday so much! Canoeing was a little scary, but for my first time I think I did pretty good! My arms are extremely sore but it is a good sore. I am learning so much and loving every new experience! I have played pool, softball, and basketball which are all things that I do not do very often but have had a good time doing!     This Sunday I got to go to church in Salisbury. It was nice to d...
